"Expect the unexpected in Syria. If I were Bashar Asad, I'd be very worried about my closest security. It takes just one bullet to end this regime. Bashar doesn't hold enough clout to run the state machinery.

Great point. Nevertheless, I'm disinclined to believe (anymore) that Israel's strategy is about existing and being secure. I think the politically charged diaspora and the right wing in Israel have intentions that are far beyond simple Wilsonian ideas.

I don't know why we are so worried about Iran when we have an unstable Pakistan already armed with nukes. I'm more concerned with some elements within Pakistan taking control of a bomb and using it against an any other nation.

Thanks for helping me keep up w the fatherland from a long distance. The story is convoluted and schizophrenic all around. But all national transformations involve processes that are complicated. With a little bit of luck Turkey will come out the other end a better country.
